These are the guys who have really earned their spurs, helping us in our hours of need. Every single one of them a true star. To become part of the Admiralty, your deeds and actions must stand out. Thanks for your help guys, we really appreciate it. We salute you!

The Admiralty

‘The Boss’ (Stefan)
You don’t get into the Admiralty without being seriously brilliant, and no-one deserves their place more than this man mountain. Don’t be fooled by the smile... (grimace?)... Stefan will forever be ‘The Boss’ to us. When the chips were down, Stefan was there to pick up the pieces. Well, in fact, when the chips were down on the table, Stefan was usually eating them, with a beer in hand. For sheer bravery, experience, knowledge and an ability to lead from the front, Stefan stands out. (Skips: I’m told (by the girls) that Stefan scores highly in the looks department as well, but I couldn’t possibly comment).  If you are looking for a Skipper, or need work done on your barge, we recommend getting hold of Stefan (AC Marine - see ‘Our Links’)

‘First Mate’ (Colin)
There have been people who have helped us on our journey in so many ways, but very few of them have washed their face in our diesel, then drunk it. But that’s not all, Colin has lifted our anchor off the sea bed in the most terrifying situation imaginable, and somehow managed to keep a zillion systems working while all hell was breaking lose. When not engaged in death defying jaunts across the North Sea, we’re told that Colin also made up our new bollards. So to Colin, welcome to the Admiralty... a ‘First Mate’ no more... and here’s a big thumbs up from us!

‘Mr Brons’ (Ad)
Ad has been praised elsewhere on this website and frankly there is no praise high enough for this wonderful chap. Ad has helped us with our Brons engine in every possible way... not least in giving us the confidence to cross the North Sea. We can’t imagine how Ad finds the time... researching the history of our barge, sourcing 60 year old engine diagrams, and advising us on everything from gearbox oil to rubber bushes! We’ve even got a Brons t-shirt and pennant!! In particular, we admire Ad’s enthusiasm and passion for everything Brons related. If you have a Brons engine, Ad would particularly love to hear from you (see ‘Our Links’). Thanks Ad... you’re a star!

‘Mr Positive’ (Vince)
For as long as I live, the words ‘give her air and diesel and she will run’ will be etched in my mind. As an approach to getting our engine going, it’s a real winner... I did however try the same approach with No.1 and it didn’t quite hold up. But there’s no doubt that with regards to the Brons, never a truer word has been spoken. Vince believed in our engine when no-one else would touch it, coaxing it back into life with a fair amount of “Tender Loving Care” and a healthy dollop of engineering brilliance. Vince also prepared Fenrir for her trip across the North Sea, fixing everything from windows to generators.
For these feats alone, Vince would be in the Admiralty... but there is more... Vince gave us back our hope and belief during a very difficult time. We salute you Vince!
