‘True Blue’ (Dave)

True Blue’s first trip clocked up an astonishing 40 metres motoring in Fenrir, in what was a truly epic journey from our mooring over to a nearby pontoon.
His second trip was navigating through the 300m of tight cornered waterways to the Fuel pump.
Despite perhaps the paucity of distance, there is no doubt that True Blue clearly qualifies as our newest ‘sailor’ even when set against our immensely difficult and most strictly adhered to criteria:

- Blue enjoyed a gin or two (or three/four) on our barge
- Blue has actually taken the wheel (when Skips couldn’t reverse properly)
- Blue has shown clear allegiance to Fenrir on numerous occasions... not least in assisting the loading of the new sofa during a treacherous monsoon lasting many hours, as well as the horror of having us as neighbours

Admittedly, True Blue was nearly disqualified when it became clear that he actually knows what he is doing (a criminal offence indeed) with a CV that includes many jaunts across the channel and around various islands of the world. I mean, Blue can really sail! But this issue was quickly put to bed when the selection committee were invited on a no-expenses-spared weekend junket down the Thames on the rather delightful ‘Laura-Jo’.

True Blue talks of a more “modern”, some might say, “sophisticated” approach to boating involving new fangled concepts like GPS, bow thrusters, battery inverters and even, horror of horror, anchor windlasses. Many on Fenrir deny the existence of such things, claiming instead, that True Blue may have drunk too much gin.

The truth may never come out, but regardless, we welcome True Blue as a Fenrir sailor, and of course, would like to point out that Chef, Blue’s lovely wife is also our latest deckhand!
Anyone fancy a beer?
